Facebook, Twitter and Blogs for Your Business
Social Media is the current “Buzz Word” on the Internet, but how can Social Media help your business?
Here are some facts and figures from Facebook, who have just reached 250,000,000 active users.
As you can see, Facebook is still primarily UK, USA and Northern Europe, but growing at an enormous rate every day.
How can Facebook help my business?
Facebook gives Business the opportunity to set up their own page. This page should contain all the relevant information about your business, such as the type of products or services you provide, your opening times and relevant news stories about your business. It’s relatively straightforward to set up, however you do need to keep an eye on your page to ensure it’s kept up to date.
So, what about Twitter, everyone seems to be talking about it?
Twitter is a reasonable new kid on the social media block, however it has seem massive growth over the past 12 months. The key to Twitter is its simplicity of use and also the speed in which its content is distributed.
When a plane made an emergency landing on the Hudson in January, the first reports were posted on Twitter long before the regular news agencies got to the scene (see here).
Twitter is considered superior to other Social Media sites, because users only get to see the information they want. This is achieved by ‘Followers’. Information from these followers is displayed on Twitter users screens in chronological order. There are now 25,000,000+ people using Twitter for personal and business use.
How can Twitter help my business?
Twitter users only see the information they request, if they decide to follow you, it’s because they are interested in you and the products and services you offer. By keeping your Twitter stream alive, you are marketing to your potential customers 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
What about Blogs, I hear a lot about them too?
Blogs (or Web Logs) are web sites specifically designed to tell visitors about the person, their interest or their Businesses. This might be latest offers, product information or stories about how those products and services helped another business save money.
Blogs are simple to maintain, but again you should ensure that you keep the information stream alive (ie. Keep writing content). So in fairness, you should write a blog post at least once or twice a month (However there are many blogs that are updated several times a day).
But I don’t have the time to do all of this, I am busy enough running my business!!??
If you feel you don’t have the time to manage all this information, all is not lost. Matt Porter Web Design offer a Social Media Pack, the pack is specifically designed for businesses who don’t have the time to write multiple posts to a variety of Social Media sites, but can afford the time to spend a few minutes a week updating ONE place.
If you are currently producing a E-Newsletter, then the information on this newsletter can be simply copied and pasted and used in the Social Media Pack.
